As another fulfilling year draws to a close, we’ve taken time to reflect on what made it so special.

From celebrating long-service milestones within our team to being recognised by both our suppliers and the wider industry, 2025 gave us plenty of wins to celebrate along with challenges to overcome.

Throughout the year we have been consistently proud of our amazing team and everyone who has supported and powered our business.

At UPS Power Solutions, we’ve always believed that strong businesses are built on strong relationships. Watching our team, along with our suppliers, partners and customers, continue to work together with trust, respect and shared values has been incredibly rewarding.

Time and again, we’re reminded of how vital every connection is to our success. We genuinely value every individual and organisation we work with, and this year has only reinforced our belief that when people treat each other with respect, back each other and put in the hard work, everyone benefits.

Celebrating our amazing people

We kicked off 2025 on a high, with our commercial sales manager, Sam Lingman being presented with the Channel Champion - Distributor award at the Eaton Partner Awards. We were also proud to see our managing director, Nicky Blackmore recognised through her nomination for the (Women in ICT Awards (WIICTA) Achievement Award.

Adding to that momentum, two of our team were finalists at Schneider Electric’s Partner Awards with Sam Lingman nominated in the Partner Sales Champion category and Andre Uitzinger in the Technical Sales Champion category. As a company, we were thrilled to win the NZ partner category at Schneider Electric’s 2025 Sustainability Impact Awards, which celebrate the meaningful environmental and sustainability initiatives being driven by partners across the globe.

Internally, we continue to celebrate the long service and dedication of our team members with two of the UPSPS family reaching significant milestones. Our engineering manager, James Clark joined us in 2010 and is the fourth longest serving member of team UPSPS. He joins the pretty exclusive 15-year club. The newest member of the UPSPS 5-year club is our wonderful company accountant, Jacinta Hepburn who joined us in 2020.

These moments of recognition matter to us because they acknowledge not just our commercial performance, but the successes of our people and our commitment to making a positive difference for both the planet and its people.

World-class partnerships

Relationships with our partners continued to go from strength to strength and we welcomed new brands to our world-class product portfolio. In March we began a strategic partnership with global power solutions manufacturer CE+T Power, providing our customers with access to CE+T’s innovative range of modular inverter products for DC applications and infrastructure.

Later in April we announced a new distribution partnership with global technology leader ABB. The comprehensive UPS range from ABB enables solutions that we know will deliver fit-for-purpose power assurance and business continuity for our customers.

To ensure that New Zealand business can make confident decisions when it comes to safeguarding their power assurance, we launched updated versions of our Eaton and ABB UPS Selector guides and then took a team to the 2025 CSB Global Channel Summit in Japan, where we joined more than 200 delegates from around the world for three days of insight, innovation and connection.

As NZ’s leading provider of back-up power solutions, we continue to recognise the value in ongoing engagement with the business community across all industries to constantly identify evolving requirements and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions that protect operational and business continuity.

Leaping hurdles with confidence

In May, UPS Power Solutions faced one of our largest challenges when a fire broke out at our Wellington distribution centre, causing damage to both our warehouse and office facilities. The rapid activation of our business continuity plan along with amazing support and hard work from of our people ensured no disruption to our normal commercial and engineering operations.

Twenty individuals, including staff, family, and friends, volunteered to help relocate and set up our temporary facility. Their spirit reflects the strong relationships and values that form the foundation of our business and we can’t thank them enough for their efforts. We can’t wait to celebrate our homecoming to Glover Street early in 2026.

Looking ahead, UPS Power Solutions remains focused on delivering a level of service that continues to set the standard within our industry. Galvanised by successfully overcoming the challenges and proving the effectiveness of a sound business continuity strategy leaves us excited about what’s to come and are already looking forward to raising the bar even higher in the year ahead.

To everyone who is part of the UPS Power Solutions community — thank you. We’re grateful to have you alongside us on this journey and wish you and your families a safe, happy and well-earned festive season. We look forward to working together again in the year ahead.
