As part of its recently released Environmental and Sustainability Policy and Management Plan, UPS Power Solutions has announced its accreditation as a Living Wage employer.

The criteria for accreditation goes beyond the renumeration of staff to include the surety of a living wage for people who are also contracted to the business such as cleaners.

UPS Power Solutions General Manager, Nicky Blackmore, says that the company was already meeting the criteria for accreditation and has always viewed rewarding, developing and retaining talented people as a crucial factor in business success.

“We’ve known that people are the most important part of doing business for a long time, and our philosophy has always been to reward above market rates. We like to lead from the front and this accreditation reinforces the approach we’ve had for years,” she says.

Along with the minimum expectation of a living wage, UPSPS employees also receive confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme that provides support and guidance through any personal or work-related challenges.

Staff all have access to funded NIB health insurance, enjoy a robust career path and training ideology that helps them develop their skills and competencies on an ongoing basis and access to a revenue share model that delivers further performance-based recognition and renumeration.

“Our staff and contractors enjoy a healthy, safe and productive workplace where work-life balance and mental wellbeing is considered as equally important as training and performance. This accreditation fits well within our philosophy of reward and nurture and makes us an active and productive citizen of the New Zealand business community,” says Blackmore.
