We are delighted to celebrate another important milestone, with Luana Downing marking five years with UPS Power Solutions.

Luana joined the business in February 2021 as our new Channel Sales Manager. She quickly built momentum in her role, developing strong relationships with customers and getting to grips with our product offering before being thrown a curveball. The prolonged Covid lockdown soon followed, temporarily clipping her wings.

True to form, Luana made the most of a challenging situation. Whether it was staying connected with customers or bringing energy and personality to virtual team events, she remained fully engaged and committed to the team throughout.

The ultimate people person

From the outset, Luana has demonstrated a natural ability to connect with our customers, partners and her colleagues. She understands what makes people tick, advocates strongly on their behalf, and isn’t afraid to stand her ground when needed earning her respect across the board.

She brings a distinctive presence to the channel. In an industry where relationships matter, Luana has built a reputation for being memorable, responsive and unafraid to do things her way.

One early moment that stood out saw her confidently walk into a J.A. Russell branch, politely asked the branch manager to wait a few minutes, and headed straight to meet the bid team first in a move that left a lasting impression and perfectly captured her approach.

Consistent dedication

Over the past five years, Luana has worked tirelessly to grow and strengthen our channel programme. From scheduling customer visits and running training sessions to creating engaging experiences.

Whether that’s sharing pies in-store or hosting customers at events like Cirque du Soleil and the ASB Tennis Classic, or out on the water fishing, Luana has brought energy, creativity and infectious energy to every interaction.

Her efforts have delivered tangible results, with the channel business going from strength to strength and achieving consistent year-on-year growth under her leadership.

Deserved recognition

Internally, Luana is known for her vibrant personality and direct, often quirky approach. She has a way of communicating that ensures her message lands, even when tackling more challenging conversations.

She brings a sense of fun that lifts those around her, and all these qualities were deservedly recognised when she was awarded Channel Champion – Distributor at last month’s Eaton Partner Awards.

Luana’s energy, responsiveness and genuine focus on customer outcomes make her an invaluable part of our team. She embodies what it means to be a trusted partner, and this award is a fantastic reflection of her impact.
