New Zealand’s community spirit is perhaps most visible when local organisations come together with a shared purpose. On the Kāpiti Coast, that spirit has taken shape as an exciting new attraction designed to deliver fun, community and a lasting impact.

Golf for Good is a collaboration between the Kāpiti Rotary Club and the Combined Lions Clubs of Kāpiti, bringing to life a unique 18-hole mini golf experience for locals and visitors alike.

Operated by dedicated volunteers from both clubs, the facility has been built with the simple promise that every dollar of profit will be returned to deserving community projects across the district.

What makes this initiative especially remarkable is how quickly it became reality. In just a few short months, an ambitious vision was transformed into a spectacular course inspired by the famous Himalayas Putting Course in St Andrews.

With guidance from international mini-golf specialist Scott McPherson and support from skilled local tradespeople thousands of volunteer hours were poured into construction.

The result is the first internationally designed mini golf course of its kind in New Zealand, built by the community, for the community and opened debt-free thanks to the backing of local Kāpiti businesses and generous sponsors.

Powering the experience

Behind every successful community facility is infrastructure that simply has to work. For Golf for Good, this included a reliable supply of power to support the operation and ensure visitors enjoy a consistently fun and safe experience.

Through the Helping Hands Initiative, UPS Power Solutions was proud to donate an Eaton 5E1200 UPS unit that will provide critical backup protection so that unexpected power interruptions won’t disrupt play or impact customer enjoyment.

The donation was gratefully accepted by Golf for Good Trust Chairman and Lion, Rex Bullard, alongside Rotarian David Edwards, two individuals who embody the service-driven ethos of their respective organisations.

By safeguarding the course’s power supply, the UPS ensures the focus remains on families, friends and visitors enjoying the challenge of the greens while knowing that their participation is contributing to something bigger.

Built to give back

Both partner organisations bring deep histories of service. The Combined Lions Clubs of Kāpiti form part of Lions Clubs International’s global volunteer network, united by the motto “We Serve” and committed to strengthening communities through practical action. Likewise, the Kāpiti Rotary Club draws together local business and civic leaders guided by Rotary’s principle of service above self, supporting initiatives that promote education, wellbeing and sustainable impact.

Golf for Good stands as a tangible expression of those values; operated entirely by volunteers with profits directed back into local charities, youth groups and community projects. Each simple round of golf is transformed into meaningful contribution.

UPS Power Solutions is thrilled to have played a small part in enabling such a significant community asset. When local organisations, businesses and volunteers combine their expertise and energy, the outcomes speak for themselves.

We wish Golf for Good every success as it welcomes players from across the region and proves that sometimes, a great community project really does start with a single swing.
