Every year, our Helping Hands Initiative gives our team the chance to support causes that matter to them and one of our favourites is our ongoing native tree planting through Trees That Count.

This year we put the choice of planting locations in the hands of our team so that they can enjoy the new trees in the communities where they and their loved ones live, work and play.

Each team member voted on where they wanted our next 100 trees to be planted, choosing locations close to their own “back yard.” It’s a small act with a big impact, bringing greenery to areas that are meaningful to our team while helping restore native biodiversity across New Zealand.

Here’s how the UPSPS team’s votes stacked up

Knowing that our Helping Hands Initiative is making a tangible difference across the country is something we’re incredibly proud of.

With these latest plantings, our total contribution has now reached 686 trees, placing us among the top 200 planters nationwide. They will help to remove about 152 tonnes of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere over 50 years which makes a great contribution to our sustainability targets.

For our team, there’s something special about seeing a project grow based on their personal choices. We’re proud of our efforts to lend a Helping Hand and foster a sense of ownership and connection to our communities.

It’s a great time of the year to remind ourselves that everyone can play a part in creating a greener, healthier future.
