The UPS Power Solutions’ team were delighted to don our glad-rags once again with the return of the Wellington Business Excellence awards.

After a couple of years’ break due to Covid postponements, the annual awards were back in full force and the gala dinner was as polished and exciting as we remembered.

Being nominated in three categories – Manufacturing, Innovation & Technology, Business Excellence Through Covid & Construction, Trades & Infrastructure – was a real privilege, especially when we were announced as the winners in the Manufacturing, Innovation & Technology category, effectively retaining our title from the last time the awards were held.

Winning the award along with being informed that we were extremely strong finalists in the other categories was truly recognition of the hard work out whole team has put in over a very challenging couple of years. Furthermore, retaining first-place in the Manufacturing, Innovation & Technology category validated our choices and approach to delivering value to customers no matter the cost throughout the last three years.

We were lucky to be provided with some of the judges’ comments which included:

“Comprehensive processes and systems enable the business to provide a high level of service to its customer base and make good decisions on future direction.”

“An impressive number of staff-initiated projects to support community through its Helping Hands programme.”

“A huge amount of effort was put in by this organisation to keep their team operational during COVID. Supplying PPE gear, RAT and health and safe updates constantly as alert levels changed. The focus of this organisation was their team and ensuring that they were available to support their customers in essential business.”

“The company implemented a clever strategy that was focused on supporting their staff through covid, realising the value that without their people they could not deliver to customers.”

“An excellent overall entry with great examples to support the narrative.”
